## Synopsis

The Continental: From the World of John Wick (2023) is a Peacock miniseries and a prequel to the John Wick film franchise, created by Greg Coolidge, Kirk Ward and Shawn Simmons. Colin Woodell plays a young Winston Scott, who is dragged into the violent underworld of 1970s New York City and must face a past he believed he had left behind. Mel Gibson appears as Cormac O'Connor, and Mishel Prada, Ben Robson and Hubert Point-Du Jour round out the principal cast. The engine of the three-episode story is Winston's struggle to navigate the hotel's hidden criminal hierarchy and seize the establishment where he will one day hold his future throne. Each episode runs close to ninety minutes, and the series unfolds as one continuous origin story rather than a case of the week. Set in a gritty, neon-tinged New York, it leans toward brash mobster swagger, gaudy parties and sharp dialogue, with heavy violence and a hard-edged atmosphere. Fans of Peaky Blinders, The Sopranos and Killing Eve will find resonance in its criminal milieu and stylized assassin world, though some viewers feel it leans more toward mob drama than action.
