## Synopsis

Bad Blood (2017-2018) is a Canadian crime drama series created by Simon Barry for Citytv. Across two seasons and fourteen episodes, the show dramatizes the life and death of Montreal mob boss Vito Rizzuto, played by Anthony LaPaglia. Paul Sorvino plays Nico Rizzuto Sr., and Kim Coates appears as Declan Gardiner across the full run, while Enrico Colantoni and Brett Donahue fill out the family's inner circle. The engine is a crime family pulled between loyalty and ambition, as the Rizzuto clan fights to hold territory against rival factions and internal rivals. Each episode moves through meetings, betrayals, and violent reprisals, giving the story a steady accumulation of pressure rather than standalone cases. The atmosphere is gritty and tense, with a grounded, documentary-leaning realism that favors dark interiors and serious moral weight. Its tone is sober and brooding, with the cold cost of organized crime shown in every power play. Fans of The Sopranos and Gomorrah will find resonance in its mafia family dynamics and unflinching criminal world. Set in modern Montreal, it offers a tightly focused look at Italian-Canadian organized crime and the price of a crime dynasty.
