## Synopsis

Safe (2018) is a British eight-episode limited series created by Harlan Coben for Netflix. Michael C. Hall stars as Tom Delaney, a widower whose search for his missing daughter Carrie (Isabelle Allen) pulls him into the hidden lives of the people closest to him inside a gated community. Amanda Abbington plays Sophie Mason, a neighbour whose household holds its own uneasy secrets, while Freddie Thorp and Marc Warren fill out the cast of residents and associates whose loyalties blur as the investigation deepens. The engine is simple and relentless: a grieving father refuses to accept what the adults around him keep saying, and every episode turns up a new lie or a fresh doubt about who can be trusted. Its shape is one continuing story across eight episodes, built on slow burn suspense rather than action. The tone is gritty, suspenseful and claustrophobic, with the rain-soaked suburban setting pressing in on every scene. Fans of The Five, The Missing and Top of the Lake will find resonance in its domestic dread and its patient unraveling of respectable lives.
