## Synopsis

Knightfall (2017-2019) is a United States historical drama series created by Don Handfield and Richard Rayner for History. Tom Cullen plays Landry de Lauzon, a Knight Templar drawn into a clandestine world of warrior monks, alongside Pádraic Delaney as Gawain and Simon Merrells as Tancrède de Hauteville. Their brotherhood must guard its secrets while navigating the ambitions of King Philip IV of France (Ed Stoppard) and his chief adviser William De Nogaret (Julian Ovenden). The engine of the series is the tension between sworn vows and political survival, as the knights move through royal chambers, battlefield skirmishes and covert missions in a thirteenth century Europe shaped by faith and power. The show runs for two seasons and eighteen episodes, mixing serialized plotting with a steady escalation of danger. Set in medieval France, it carries a brooding, grim and intense register, with a focus on honor, betrayal and brotherhood. Fans of Game of Thrones, The Last Kingdom and Vikings will find resonance in its blend of historical texture and political maneuvering.
