## Synopsis

Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later (2017) is an American comedy miniseries created by David Wain and Michael Showalter for Netflix. A sequel to the cult film that reunites the former junior counselors of a fictional summer camp, the eight-episode story follows Elizabeth Banks as Lindsay, Michael Ian Black as McKinley, Janeane Garofalo as Beth and Ken Marino as Victor Pulak as the group gathers for a weekend of bonding, rekindled romances and escalating mishaps. Each short episode builds around a ridiculous mini-plot, from clumsy flirtation to over-the-top camp rivalries, so the comedy comes from characters who still act like teenagers at thirty. The tone is deadpan and sincere in the way of a parody that takes its earnest camp clichés completely seriously, with a playful, nostalgic warmth underneath. Set in a self-contained camp setting and built on recurring jokes, the miniseries plays like a sketch-driven spoof of summer camp movies. Fans of the original film, The State and Party Down will find resonance in its ensemble of comic actors and its affectionate send-up of arrested adolescence.
