## Synopsis

Million Yen Women (2017) is a Japanese mystery drama series created by Michihito Fujii for TV Tokyo, adapted from a manga. Unsuccessful novelist Shin Michima rents out his home to five beautiful but enigmatic women who manage the household in exchange for a tidy monthly sum. Each woman keeps her own agenda, and the novelist's writing blocks and daily routines become the stage for a slowly unfolding puzzle. Across a single twelve-episode season, the household's domestic rituals of meals, chores and shared quarters gradually reveal tension beneath the surface. The mood is cool, unsettling and intimate, with a sly, deadpan undertone that keeps viewers guessing about who these women really are. Fans of Twin Peaks and of quietly menacing ensemble thrillers will find resonance in its patient unease and its web of concealed motives.
