## Synopsis

The Ladies' Paradise (2015-present) is an Italian daily soap opera series created for Rai 1 and streaming on RaiPlay, a long-running national-television drama with light comedy. Teresa Iorio (Giusy Buscemi) leaves her rural Sicilian hometown for Milan, hoping to build a career at a newly opened department store, the Ladies' Paradise. Alongside her, principal characters include Vittorio Conti (Alessandro Tersigni), Greta Marchesi (Valentina Ghelfi), Silvana Maffeis (Silvia Mazzieri) and Ezio Galli (Andrea Pennacchi), whose lives tangle through shop-floor rivalries, boardroom maneuvering, and shifting romantic alliances. The engine of the series is the store itself: an ambitious young woman's climb through a fashion retail world, with each episode built from workplace intrigue, family pressures, and matchmaking. Its scale is vast, with eleven seasons and well over a thousand episodes, a continuing serial in which storylines accumulate over years rather than resolve weekly. The mood is warm, sentimental and melodramatic, with a comforting cadence of romance, loyalty and small-town dreams confronting big-city ambition. Fans of Upstairs, Downstairs and Un posto al sole will find the same appeal of an ensemble soap that grows with its audience. The series is set in contemporary Milan, in an era that mirrors the broadcast years.
