## Synopsis

One Dollar (2018) is an American crime mystery drama series created by Jason Mosberg for CBS All Access. Set in a small rust belt town in post-recession America, the single season of ten hour-long episodes follows a one-dollar bill as it changes hands and connects a group of characters tangled in a shocking multiple murder. John Carroll Lynch plays Bud Carl, and Ashlie Atkinson plays Terri Mitchell, with Greg Germann as Wilson Furlbee and Philip Ettinger as Garrett Drimmer rounding out the principal cast. The engine of the show is the slow reconstruction of who did what and why, as each character's ordinary life of debt, grievance and small schemes pulls them closer to the crime. Each episode lets a different thread surface and then bends it back toward the central killing, so the story accumulates through overlapping perspectives rather than a single detective's investigation. Fans of Fargo, Broadchurch and Ozark will find resonance in its bleak, financially strained atmosphere and its interlocking lives. The tone is wistful and dread-filled, with a grim, understated register. The series was canceled after its first season, leaving its central mystery open.
