## Synopsis

Black (2017) is a South Korean fantasy crime series created by Kim Hong-sun for OCN, a single-season limited series of eighteen feature-length episodes. Song Seung-heon plays Grim Reaper Black, an otherworldly figure whose job is collecting souls, who is drawn into a partnership with Go Ara as Kang Ha-Ram, a woman who can foresee death, and a detective investigating deaths that carry unsettling connections. Yoon Soo-Wan, played by EL, and Kim Dong-jun as Oh Man-Soo add further pressure on the investigation. The engine of the story is a tug between duty and desire: Black must follow the rules of death while his bond with Kang Ha-Ram pulls him toward a human life he cannot have. Each strand of the plot moves toward dark mysteries buried twenty years in the past, and the case files and prophetic visions gradually reveal how those old events still shape the present. The tone blends melancholic romance with gripping suspense and moments of visceral violence. Fans of Goblin and Hwayugi will find resonance in its blend of Korean supernatural romance, crime procedure and fated love. Its atmosphere is moody and urban, with Seoul nights and quiet grief carrying the emotional weight of every episode.
