## Synopsis

My Sweet Fat Valentina (2002-2003) is a Venezuelan telenovela created for RCTV, a single-season soap opera of 178 episodes. Natalia Streignard stars as Valentina Villanueva, a big-hearted overweight woman who refuses to accept that her size should keep her from love, and the story follows her efforts to overcome family objections and social obstacles standing between her and the man she adores. Emma Rabbe plays her sharp-tongued relative Sasa Lanz, and Norkys Batista plays Chiqui Lorenz, whose rivalries and schemes add friction to the household. Manuel Sosa and Juan Pablo Raba appear among the principal players whose romantic entanglements tangle the central storyline. Each episode is built from confrontations, misunderstandings, disguises and melodramatic reversals, with a comedic warmth that keeps the tension light. Its tone is cheerful, heightened and sentimental, centered on self-acceptance and the hope that love can overcome prejudice. Set in contemporary Caracas society, the show unfolds across the upper-middle-class households and workplaces of a bustling Venezuelan city. Fans of Ugly Betty, Yo soy Betty, la fea and Cristal will find resonance in its blend of romance, class comedy and soap opera excess.
