## Synopsis

Day and Night (2017-2024) is a Chinese crime drama series created by Zhi Wen for Youku. Identical twin brothers Guan Hongfeng and Guan Hongyu, played by Pan Yueming, are pulled into the aftermath of a brutal massacre that wiped out their family. As they confront a shadowy criminal organization, the brothers join forces with a small circle of allies, including police officer Zhou Xun, played by Wang Longzheng, and Zhou Shutong, played by Liang Yuan, to dig through the evidence behind the 213 massacre. The engine of the story is a patient, layered hunt for the truth, built from interrogations, surveillance, shifting loyalties and the constant risk of exposure. The series runs two seasons across sixty-one episodes, telling one continuing investigation rather than standalone cases. Its tone is tense and sombre, with a melancholy undercurrent of grief and identity running beneath the procedural momentum. Mystery, thriller and family loyalty sit at its center, and the doubled life of a man who must be two people at once gives it a distinctive emotional charge. Fans of The Wire, Mystic River and Detective Chinatown will find resonance in its slow-burn conspiracy and morally grey investigation.
