## Synopsis

Lore (2017-2018) is an American horror anthology series created by Aaron Mahnke and carried on Prime Video, adapted from his popular podcast. Narrated throughout by Mahnke himself, who guides viewers through each tale in a calm, deliberate voice, the two-season run of twelve forty-minute episodes asks how familiar monster legends grew out of real historical events. Each self-contained story blends dramatized reenactments with animation and archival material to show how fear of vampires, werewolves and body snatchers may have taken root in documented human tragedy, disease, and superstition. Rather than following recurring characters, the series is built around the narrator's measured storytelling and the gradual reveal of how ordinary people's misfortunes hardened into legend. The tone is eerie and atmospheric, more unsettling than gory, with a documentary-like seriousness that lets dread accumulate slowly. Its style sits in the vein of Tales from the Crypt and The Twilight Zone, with the reenactment-driven unease of Mindhunter for those drawn to dramatized real events. Fans of folklore, creepy history and anthology horror will find a moody, intelligent companion piece that rewards patient viewing and a fondness for the uncanny.
