## Synopsis

Morocco: Love in Times of War (2017) is a Spanish period drama series created for Antena 3 and aired on Spanish national television. Set in 1921 during the Rif War, the story follows a group of young nurses from Spain's upper class who travel to war-torn Morocco to help where help is needed. Julia Ballester (Amaia Salamanca) leads the group, with Fidel Calderón (Álex García) and Pilar Muñiz de Soraluce (Verónica Sánchez) among the principal figures whose lives become entangled with the conflict. The engine of the series is the gap between privileged naivety and the brutal reality of a colonial battlefield, as the women confront a hospital overwhelmed by casualties, shifting loyalties and forbidden attractions. Each episode of this single thirteen-episode season moves through wartime medical work, personal romance and class tensions, building a continuing story rather than standalone cases. The tone blends melodrama with sober wartime realism, emotionally charged and sometimes harrowing, while the theme of growing up and finding one's true desires gives the romance real weight. Fans of Downton Abbey, Velvet and The Nurses will find resonance in its mix of period costume, wartime stakes and romantic drama.
