## Synopsis

The Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These (2018-2022) is a Japanese animated space opera series created for Family Gekijo, produced by Production I.G and Shochiku. Its engine is the rivalry between two prodigies: Reinhard von Lohengramm (voiced by Mamoru Miyano), a rising commander of the Galactic Empire, and Yang Wen-Li (voiced by Kenichi Suzumura), a reluctant strategist of the Free Planets Alliance. Each leads a fleet against the other, yet the story turns as much on the political schemes behind the front lines as on the battles themselves. Supporting principals include Siegfried Kircheis (Yuuichirou Umehara), Frederica Greenhill (Aya Endo) and Julian Mintz (Yuki Kaji). Across four seasons and forty-eight episodes, the series unfolds as a serialized saga, with each episode built from strategic set pieces, council chambers and shifting alliances. Set across a vast interstellar future spanning roughly a century and a half of war, it carries a grave, contemplative register, with dense dialogue, political unease and moments of tragic weight. Fans of Battlestar Galactica and Babylon 5 will find resonance in its large-scale politics and strategic warfare, and admirers of Attack on Titan will recognize its appetite for consequence.
