## Synopsis

Anime-Gataris (2017) is a Japanese animated slice of life comedy series produced by WAO World and DMM pictures and broadcast on TOKYO MX. The single season of twelve 25-minute episodes follows Minoa Asagaya (Kaede Hondo), a Sakaneko High School student who cannot recall the title of an anime she loved as a child. Her search pulls in Arisu Kamiigusa (Sayaka Senbongi), the wealthy classmate and hardcore otaku who overhears her, and together they found an Anime Research Club to gather members who might know the show. The engine of each episode is the club's wandering conversations, recommendations and small misadventures as its members, including Miko Kouenji (Hisako Tojo) and Neko-senpai (Hironori Kondoh), trade knowledge and bicker about what they love. The tone is light, breezy and affectionate, with playful self-referential humor about fandom and the rituals of watching anime. Fans of K-On!, Lucky Star and Bakemonogatari will find resonance in its clubroom banter, comfortable school life and knowing nods to the medium.
