## Synopsis

Recovery of an MMO Junkie (2017) is a Japanese animated romantic comedy series adapted from a manga and produced for TOKYO MX. The story follows Moriko Morioka, a thirty-year-old single NEET woman who has withdrawn from ordinary life and escapes into a massively multiplayer online game, where she becomes the handsome avatar Hayashi. Voice cast includes Mamiko Noto as Moriko, Ryota Suzuki as Hayashi, and Reina Ueda as Lily, the kind newcomer who helps Hayashi through her first steps in the game. Meanwhile, Moriko's offline life takes an unexpected turn when she meets Yuuta Sakurai, voiced by Takahiro Sakurai, a polished elite company employee. The engine of the series is the tension between the comfort of a game world and the awkwardness of real relationships, with each episode moving between quests, online chatter and tentative real-world encounters. A ten-episode single season, it plays out as a gentle slice of life. Its tone is warm, self-deprecating and quietly romantic, with light teasing of its heroine's withdrawal. Fans of Sword Art Online, Log Horizon and Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku will find resonance in its blend of gaming, otaku culture and tender romance.
