## Synopsis

I Am Not a Robot (2017-2018) is a South Korean television romantic comedy created for MBC, a k-drama built on a classic rich man poor woman premise with a science fiction hook. Yoo Seung-ho plays Kim Min-gyu, a wealthy heir whose haphephobia, an allergy to human contact, keeps him isolated from the people around him. Chae Soo-bin plays Jo Ji-a, a woman pretending to be a robot to serve her ex-boyfriend, a brilliant robotics professor played by Uhm Ki-joon as Hong Baek-gyeon. The engine of the series is the escalating tangle of concealed identities, as the heroine must keep her secret while the heir slowly learns to let someone close. Episodes mix workplace and household misunderstandings with lab intrigue and humanoid robot gags, so the tension feels light rather than dangerous. Its single season of thirty-two episodes unfolds as one continuing romance rather than a case of the week. Set in present-day Korea, the show moves between luxurious corporate offices and quieter private spaces. Its tone is whimsical, sweet and warmly absurd, with a melancholic undertow about loneliness and trust. Fans of Boys Over Flowers, My Love from the Star and Crash Landing on You will find a similar blend of romance and fantasy comedy.
