## Synopsis

Deadwind (2018-2021) is a Finnish nordic noir crime drama series created by Rike Jokela for Yle TV2. Detective Sofia Karppi (Pihla Viitala), a woman in her thirties still trying to get over her husband's death, discovers the body of a young woman on a construction site, and the case sets off a chain of events that threatens to destroy her life all over again. Her investigation pulls her into a tangle of personal and professional pressure, with Sakari Nurmi (Lauri Tilkanen) and Henna Honkasuo (Mimosa Willamo) among the figures around her case. The series runs three seasons and 28 episodes of roughly 48 minutes each, following one continuing murder story rather than standalone cases. Its engine is the push and pull between a detective's need to finish the job and a private life that keeps unravelling. Set in contemporary Finland, it moves through cold streets, grey interiors and long quiet stretches of doubt, with a mood that is bleak, tense and emotionally heavy. Its brooding atmosphere and slow-burn procedure will appeal to viewers of The Killing, The Bridge and Broadchurch, and anyone searching for a dark, character-driven Scandinavian mystery.
