## Synopsis

The Art of Crime (2017-present) is a French crime drama series created by Angèle Herry-Leclerc and Pierre-Yves Mora for France 2, produced by Gaumont Télévision. Fired cop Antoine Verlay (Nicolas Gob) is placed in the Central Office for the Fight against Traffic in Cultural Goods through his friend Commandant Alexandre Pardo (Benjamin Egner). Antoine is a sharp investigator with no feel for art, and he must work with art historian Florence Chassagne (Éléonore Bernheim), a woman who lives and breathes culture and who, in her daydreams, sees and speaks with long-dead great artists. Together they chase trafficked antiquities, forged paintings and stolen masterpieces, with each case built around a work of art and the world it comes from. The engine of the show is the friction between Antoine's street-level method and Florence's intuitive, almost mystical grasp of art history. Episodes move at a measured pace, and the tone is warm, witty and playful beneath its crime framework. Fans of Spiral, Bones and Murdoch Mysteries will find resonance in its procedural cases and its mismatched partnership. The series runs across nine seasons and remains on air, with a mix of standalone cases and slowly developing personal threads.
