## Synopsis

Laredo (1965-1967) is an American network western series created for NBC and produced by Universal Television. Neville Brand, William Smith, Peter Brown and Philip Carey star as Texas Rangers stationed on the Mexican border near Laredo, Texas. Brand's Reese Bennett, Smith's Joe Riley and Brown's Chad Cooper share the load of chasing outlaws, smugglers and trouble that spills across the Rio Grande, while Carey's Captain Edward Parmalee directs the company from headquarters. Each hour is largely built around a self-contained case of the week, with rangers tracking criminals through dusty towns, scrubland and frontier outposts. The series runs for two seasons and fifty-seven hour-long episodes, giving it the shape of a classic episodic western rather than a continuing saga. Its tone is earnest and straightforward, driven by camaraderie among the rangers, a clear sense of right and wrong, and the rugged rhythms of a 1960s broadcast western. Fans of Rawhide, The Virginian and Lonesome Dove will find a similar pull of frontier loyalty, lawmen code and sun-baked adventure.
