## Synopsis

Hana-Kimi (2007) is a Japanese shojo romance comedy series created by Hiroyuki Goto for Fuji TV, adapted from a popular manga. Maki Horikita plays Mizuki Ashiya, who disguises herself as a boy and transfers into an all-boys high school in order to be near her idol, Shun Oguri's Izumi Sano, a gifted high-jump athlete who has given up the sport. Her goal is simple and persistent: coax him back into the air. Standing in her way are the complications of living a double life among rowdy classmates, a growing cast of friends and rivals including Toma Ikuta as Shuichi Nakatsu, and the constant risk that her secret will be exposed. Each episode is built from school antics, dormitory mischief, and sports training scenes that slowly turn the comedy toward longing and loyalty. The run of twelve roughly hour-long episodes gives the story room to balance light slapstick with tender romantic tension. The tone is breezy and warm, with a wistful undercurrent about passion lost and regained. Fans of Ouran High School Host Club, Kimi ni Todoke and Orange Days will find resonance in its blend of teen romance, school camaraderie and gentle humor. The series is set in a contemporary Japanese boys' boarding school and offers a comforting, character driven watch for anyone who enjoys shojo drama.
