## Synopsis

The Mr. Men Show (2008-2009) is an American-British animated children's sketch comedy series created by Roger Hargreaves for Cartoon Network and 5. Adapting the beloved Mr. Men and Little Miss books from the 1970s, 80s and 90s, it turns each cheerfully single-minded character into the star of a brief comedy sketch, pantomime, dance number or music video. Across two seasons of roughly eleven-minute episodes, its engine is simple: a character's defining trait, such as stubbornness, tidiness or forgetfulness, collides with everyday situations and produces a wave of gentle slapstick and wordplay. Because each segment is self-contained, the show plays like a colorful variety program rather than a continuing story, with the variety of formats keeping young viewers engaged. The tone is breezy, silly and warm, with bouncy original songs by Jared Faber giving the whole program a cheerful musical energy. Its whimsical, picture-book look and playful absurdity place it in the company of SpongeBob SquarePants and Adventure Time for fans of bright, short-form children's animation. Its gentle comedy suits families and very young children looking for something light and upbeat.
