## Synopsis

Junji Ito Collection (2018) is a Japanese animated horror anthology series produced for WOWOW Prime and adapted from the manga of artist Junji Ito. Each of its twelve episodes stands alone, telling a separate tale of dread in which ordinary Japanese life curdles into the uncanny. Stories center on schoolchildren, families and townspeople confronting spreading bodily transformation, obsessive cursed objects and inexplicable supernatural forces. Voice cast includes Yuji Mitsuya as Sōichi, Mami Koyama as Fuchi, Rie Suegara as Tomie and Hiro Shimono as Oshikiri, giving the characters a grounded, wary intimacy. The engine of each episode is the slow escalation of a small wrongness into horror, with grotesque visuals and unsettling pacing building to a stark final image. The anime is bleak, eerie and disturbing, a single season of contained nightmares. Fans of Black Mirror, Tales from the Crypt and Another will find resonance in its unsettling, self-contained stories.
