## Synopsis

Killing Bites (2018) is a Japanese animated action series created for MBS and TBS, an adult anime based on a manga and adapted into a single twelve-episode season. Yuuya Nomoto, voiced by Wataru Hatano, is a driver horrified to learn his vehicle has been used to kidnap a high school girl, only to find her, Hitomi Uzaki, voiced by Sora Amamiya, is a genetically engineered fighter who tears her captors apart. Pulled into the clandestine death match circuit known as Killing Bites, Yuuya has no choice but to keep working for her, and each episode is built around a new bloody arena bout where Hitomi bets the value of organs on herself against hybrid opponents. Supporting roles from Maaya Uchida as Eruza Nakanishi, Sumire Uesaka as Ui Inaba, and Yuichi Nakamura as Taiga Nakanishi widen the underworld around them. The tone is gleeful carnage played for dark comedy, with a deadpan contrast between a cute schoolgirl and outrageous violence. Fans of Tokyo Ghoul and Elfen Lied will find resonance in its gory anime spectacle and underground world of monstrous combatants, while the show's brisk pacing keeps the fights coming. Set in present-day Japan, it leans on cheerful absurdity, a fight-for-hire underworld, and an uneasy partnership between an ordinary man and an extraordinary fighter.
