## Synopsis

How to Keep a Mummy (2018) is a Japanese animated slice of life series created for TBS, adapted from a manga and produced as a short twelve-episode season of roughly 24-minute episodes. High school student Sora Kashiwagi (voiced by Mutsumi Tamura) finds an oversized package from his self-proclaimed adventurer father, and it opens from the inside to reveal a mummy small enough to rest in his palm. His days get rearranged around caring for the tiny creature, while his sister Kaede (Ai Kayano) and his friends Tazuki Kamiya (Keisuke Komoto), Asa Motegi (Himika Akaneya) and Taichi Tatsuaki (Seiichiro Yamashita) drift in and out of the household. The engine of the show is small everyday problems: feeding a pocket sized guest, keeping it hidden, and sorting out the gentle mischief that follows. Episodes are self-contained vignettes rather than a continuing plot. The tone is light, warm and whimsical, with a comforting, friendly atmosphere set in a contemporary Japanese town. Fans of Natsume's Book of Friends, My Neighbor Totoro and Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou will find similar gentle charm.
