## Synopsis

Runaway is a Canadian French-language crime drama that aired on TVA across two seasons from 2018 to 2020. It follows Fanny Couture, a teenager raised in a comfortable Quebec suburb, whose life slowly slips out of her family's control after she falls for a manipulative older man. Claude Legault anchors the story as her father, whose desperate search for his daughter drives the family's struggle, while the wider cast exposes the darker world closing in around her. Each episode tightens the pressure of secrecy, dependence and fear, showing the cost to a household that is losing its child piece by piece. The measured pace and grounded realism keep the focus on people rather than spectacle, and the contrast between polished suburban surfaces and a dangerous underside gives the show its unsettling power. Its tone is tragic yet hopeful, with harrowing stretches balanced by the possibility of survival and recovery. Viewers drawn to intimate family stakes and serious treatment of exploitation will find a sober, emotionally direct serial that rewards patience and rarely looks away.
