## Synopsis

Law & Order: UK (2009-2014) is a British television legal drama and police procedural series created as an adaptation of the American format and broadcast on ITV1. Its ensemble centers on detective Ronnie Brooks (Bradley Walsh) and prosecutor Natalie Chandler (Harriet Walter), with Alesha Phillips (Freema Agyeman), Matt Devlin (Jamie Bamber) and James Steel (Ben Daniels) moving between investigation and courtroom. Across eight seasons and 53 episodes, the engine is the case of the week: detectives assemble evidence on London streets, then prosecutors fight to build a charge that will hold up before a jury. Each episode runs about 48 minutes and follows one crime from body to verdict, with the characters' professional tensions simmering in the background. The series is set in contemporary London and the wider English justice system, and it carries a measured, sober register with an emphasis on procedure, moral friction and the public interest. Fans of Law & Order, Silent Witness and Waking the Dead will find resonance in its blend of investigation, courtroom drama and British crime tradition.
