## Synopsis

Exosquad (1993-1994) is an American animated science fiction series created by Jeff Segal and produced by Universal Cartoon Studios for syndication. Set in the 22nd century, after humans have terraformed and settled Venus and Mars, it follows Able Squad, a group of Exo-Frame pilots led by Lieutenant J.T. Marsh (voiced by Robby Benson) and including Wolf Bronski (Michael Donovan), Maggie Weston (Teryl Rothery) and Rita Torres (Janyse Jaud). Their engine is a long interplanetary war: the ExoFleet must defend the Terran homeworlds against the Neosapien Order, an engineered race that rebelled against its makers and is led by the calculating Governor General Phaeton (Richard Newman). Each episode is built around missions, battles and clashes of strategy as the squad struggles against an invasion of Earth and Venus. The series runs across two seasons totaling 52 episodes and was canceled before its story was finished. Its tone is energetic and earnest, with bold action, heroic camaraderie and a sense of wartime stakes pitched at younger viewers. Fans of Robotech, Starship Troopers and Biker Mice from Mars will find a similar appeal in its mix of mecha-style combat and space opera spectacle.
