## Synopsis

Dogs of Berlin (2018) is a German crime drama series created by Christian Alvart for Netflix. Its single ten-episode season follows two mismatched detectives, Kurt Grimmer (Felix Kramer) and Erol Birkan (Fahri Yardım), after a politically sensitive murder throws the case into Berlin's criminal underworld. Katharina Schüttler, Anna Maria Mühe and Kais Setti also appear in principal roles. The engine of the show is a volatile investigation: each lead must pursue the killing through rival clans and biker gangs while confronting how deeply their own department is compromised. Episodes unfold as interlocking pressure points rather than standalone cases, with interrogations, street-level violence and shifting loyalties driving the plot forward. Set in contemporary Berlin, the series is grim and tense, a stripped-down portrait of a divided city where ethnic tensions and institutional rot sit close to the surface. Its tone is bleak and propulsive, with a gritty, hard-edged texture. Fans of Gomorra, Bron/Broen and Babylon Berlin will find resonance in its morally compromised police work and European criminal milieu.
