## Synopsis

The Rain (2018-2020) is a Danish post-apocalyptic thriller series created by Christian Potalivo, Esben Toft Jacobsen and Jannik Tai Mosholt for Netflix. After a brutal virus wipes out most of the population, teenage siblings Simone (Alba August) and Rasmus Anderson (Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen) set out on a perilous search for safety through a ruined landscape where the air itself may be deadly. Their journey pulls them into encounters with other survivors, some helpful and some dangerous, while the question of who can be trusted keeps tightening. The series runs for three seasons and twenty episodes, with each season building a continuing story in which every stop brings new risks and fresh hard choices. Its look is gritty and cold, and its mood is bleak, paranoid and wary, with tension sustained by scarcity and the threat of contagion. Viewers who enjoy The Hunger Games, The Walking Dead or the Nordic teen thriller Dark will find a similar blend of youthful survival and dread. The result is a tense, sober Scandinavian take on the collapse genre, anchored by the bond between two siblings.
