## Synopsis

Frank Lloyd Wright (1998) is a two-episode American documentary miniseries broadcast on PBS. Narrated by Edward Herrmann, it profiles the architect who believed he was destined to remake the world, following a long career that produced more than eight hundred buildings. The engine of the series is the tension between Wright's visionary designs and the melodrama of his private life, a restless man married three times who fathered seven children and was rarely out of scandal. Each episode moves through landmark structures such as Fallingwater, the Johnson Wax Building, Unity Temple, Taliesin and the Guggenheim Museum, pairing their creation with the personalities behind them. The result is a limited, one-season portrait that is reverent and expansive in tone, treating its subject as an American original whose ideas changed how people live, work and see the world. Viewers who enjoy architecture documentaries, biographical portraits of artists, and carefully narrated history will find the series rewarding, in the vein of Ken Burns' narrated American biographies and the broader tradition of PBS arts documentaries.
