## Synopsis

A Discovery of Witches (2018-2022) is a British supernatural romance series created by Kate Brooke for Sky One and Sky Max. Teresa Palmer plays Diana Bishop, a closet witch and historian who avoids her powers, and Matthew Goode plays Matthew Clairmont, a centuries-old vampire scientist. Their connection begins when Diana calls up a long-lost enchanted manuscript in an Oxford library, and the book draws both of them into a dangerous hunt through a world where witches, vampires and daemons live under a fragile truce. Edward Bluemel as Marcus Whitmore and Malin Buska as Satu Järvinen add loyal allies and tension, while Alex Kingston appears as Diana's mother Sarah Bishop. The engine of the series is a mix of archival research, shifting loyalties and a romance that cannot be openly acknowledged, and each season is built around the mounting consequences of the manuscript. Across three seasons and twenty-five episodes, the show moves through candlelit college rooms, grand estates and rain-soaked Oxford streets, with a moody, romantic and atmospheric tone. Its supernatural soap register is warm and sensual, closer to the adult romance of a book adaptation than to horror. Fans of Twilight, Outlander and Buffy the Vampire Slayer will find a similar appetite for forbidden love wrapped in supernatural intrigue.
