## Synopsis

Ultraseven (1967-1968) is a Japanese tokusatsu science fiction series produced by Tsuburaya Productions and broadcast on TBS. Its single season of 49 episodes, each about 25 minutes, follows Dan Moroboshi (Kohji Moritsugu), a mysterious man secretly an alien from the Land of Light who joins the Terrestrial Defense Force's Ultra Garrison alongside Captain Kiriyama (Shoji Nakayama) and the team's crew. Dan's engine is the tension between a quiet human life and the moments when Earth's defenders are overwhelmed, forcing him to reveal his true form as a giant and battle monsters and extraterrestrial invaders. Each episode is built around a new threat, from kaiju to alien schemes, with the Garrison's high-tech vehicles and weapons carrying the action. The tone is earnest and brightly heroic, with a wistful undercurrent about a hero who must hide what he is. Set in a not-too-distant future Earth, the series sits in the lineage of Ultraman and fans of classic monster-of-the-week adventures will find its charm familiar. Its structure is episodic and its atmosphere is nostalgic, colorful, and optimistic.
