## Synopsis

The Innocents (2018) is a British science fiction drama created by Hania Elkington and Simon Duric for Netflix. Across a single eight-episode season, it follows teenagers Harry (Percelle Ascott) and June (Sorcha Groundsell), whose decision to run away together sets off a chase once the extraordinary gift they carry draws powerful forces determined to divide them. Guy Pearce plays Halvorson, a formidable figure whose pursuit gives the story its cold, methodical menace, while Laura Birn, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson and Sam Hazeldine round out a cast of adults who want something from the young lovers. Each episode pushes the couple from one hiding place to the next, so the drama is built on flight, secrecy and the fragile trust between two people with little left to lose. The mood is intimate and unsettling, with a slow-building dread and a quiet emotional pull at its center. Fans of Misfits, Heroes and Dark will find resonance in its blend of young romance, sci-fi intrigue and a sense that the gift itself is both salvation and curse. Its story was left unfinished after a single season, and the series stands as a restless, character-driven thriller about first love under siege.
