## Synopsis

Summer with the Family (Sommaren med släkten, 2017-present) is a Swedish family comedy-drama created by Mikael Syrén, Staffan Lindberg and Peter Magnusson, produced for Kanal 5 with streaming on Discovery+ and Dplay. Peter Magnusson plays Jens, who packs his household into the Swedish archipelago hoping for a restful summer with his wife Åsa, played by Rakel Wärmländer. Their plans collapse when it emerges that the in-laws have no intention of handing over the cottage and mean to stay the entire season, with Krister Henriksson as Gunnar and Anki Lidén as Ingrid at the center of the friction. Christine Meltzer as Carro and Christopher Wagelin as Bobo add further household tension. The engine of each episode is the daily grind of sharing a small holiday house: competing claims over space, money, and authority, petty rivalries, and attempts to keep up a pleasant front. Across seven seasons and roughly eighty half-hour episodes, the show stays a continuing domestic story in a single setting. Its tone is warm, wry and bruising in turns, with comedy that comes from recognizable awkwardness rather than farce. Fans of Keeping Up Appearances, Everybody Loves Raymond and Gilmore Girls will find familiar resonance in its in-law comedy and cramped family dynamics.
