## Synopsis

Shakespeare & Hathaway - Private Investigators (2018-present) is a British cosy crime comedy-mystery series created by Jude Tindall and Paul Matthew Thompson for BBC One and U&Alibi. Frank Hathaway (Mark Benton), a hardboiled private investigator with a weary, old-fashioned manner, is paired with his bright rookie sidekick Lu Shakespeare (Jo Joyner), and their partnership is the heart of the show. Sebastian Brudenell (Patrick Walshe McBride) and police figures such as DI Marlowe (Amber Agar) and PC Viola Deacon (Yasmin Kaur Barn) add friction and assistance as the pair chase the hidden secrets of rural Warwickshire residents. Each 45-minute episode is built around a self-contained local case, with suspects, village gossip and small-town rivalries driving the investigation. The series has run six seasons of ten episodes each and continues to air. Its tone is cheerful, cosy and wry, with gentle humour in the odd-couple dynamic and a warm comfort-viewing register. Fans of Midsomer Murders, Death in Paradise and Monk will find resonance in its light mystery structure and quirky detective chemistry.
