## Synopsis

Nightflyers (2018) is an American science fiction horror series created by Jeff Buhler for Syfy. Set aboard the Nightflyer, the most advanced ship ever built, in the year 2093, the story follows a team of scientists on a voyage to the edge of the solar system in search of other life forms. Skye D'Branin (Bronte Carmichael) and her father Karl D'Branin (Eoin Macken) are central to the crew, while Melantha Jhirl (Jodie Turner-Smith), Dr. Agatha Matheson (Gretchen Mol) and Roy Eris (David Ajala) share the strain of a mission that grows more dangerous with each passing day. The engine of the series is the crew's gradual loss of trust in one another and in their own perceptions, as the vessel itself appears to be turning against them. Each episode tightens the pressure with eerie corridors, sealed compartments and escalating dread. Its single season of ten episodes is one continuing story rather than a case-of-the-week format. The tone is paranoid, bleak and atmospheric, with a claustrophobic sense of deep space isolation. Fans of Alien, Event Horizon and Killjoys will find resonance in its blend of science fiction and psychological horror.
