## Synopsis

You (2018-2025) is a American network-television psychological thriller series created by Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble, first broadcast on Lifetime and later on Netflix. Penn Badgley plays Joe Goldberg, a dangerously charming bookseller who goes to extreme lengths to insert himself into the lives of women who fascinate him. Elizabeth Lail, Charlotte Ritchie, and Victoria Pedretti appear among the principal women whose lives collide with his. Each season pushes his obsessions into new relationships and new neighborhoods of contemporary New York City, where smartphones, social media and digital surveillance make old-fashioned creeping around easier than ever. The engine is the tension between his romantic yearning and the escalating consequences of his choices, as he must keep his secrets hidden while the people around him grow suspicious. Told in a five-season run of ten episodes each, it plays as one continuing serialized story with a case-after-case rhythm of concealment and near-discovery. Its tone is sleek, sexy and disturbing, with a voiceover that invites viewers to root for a man who is also a killer. Fans of Dexter and Hannibal will find resonance in its morally compromised anti-hero and its cat and mouse dread.
