## Synopsis

The Bletchley Circle: San Francisco (2018) is a British television crime drama created by Laura Good for Citytv and ITV1. Julie Graham plays Jean McBrian and Rachael Stirling plays Millie Harcourt, two of four former wartime code-breakers who turn their secret skills toward murders the police have overlooked. Crystal Balint, Chanelle Peloso and Ben Cotton (as Detective Bill Bryce) round out the principal cast. Across a single eight-episode season, each case pulls the women into different corners of the city, from its nightlife to its tight-knit communities, while they forge powerful bonds and rediscover their own abilities. The engine is methodical detective work: patient deduction, quiet interviews and small clues that the official investigation has dismissed. The show is set in mid-1950s San Francisco, a city of changing social norms and postwar ambition. Its tone is measured, intelligent and hopeful, with a reflective undercurrent about the limits placed on women who had proven their worth. Fans of The Bletchley Circle, Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries and Mad Men will find resonance in its period detail and its sharp, character-driven puzzles.
