## Synopsis

Kakuriyo -Bed & Breakfast for Spirits- (2018-present) is a Japanese animated supernatural romcom series produced by GONZO and broadcast on TOKYO MX. After her grandfather dies, Aoi Tsubaki (voiced by Nao Toyama), a girl who can see spirits known as ayakashi, is confronted by an ogre who demands she pay off her family's debt by marrying him. She refuses the proposal and instead takes a job at the Tenjin-ya bed and breakfast, which exists to host spirits from the other world. Her days are spent cooking, cleaning and handling the quirks of a rotating cast of guests, while the household's principal figures, including the ogre Akatsuki (voiced by Yuma Uchida), the kitsune Kasuga (voiced by Mitsuki Nakae) and the proprietor Oodanna (voiced by Katsuyuki Konishi), gradually draw her into their lives. Each episode follows a guest's problem and a meal prepared to ease it, so the series builds warmth from ordinary domestic routines. The tone is cozy and wistful, with gentle humor, a slow-burn romance and a deep respect for Japanese folklore. Fans of Kamisama Kiss, Natsume's Book of Friends and Mushishi will find the same comforting mix of youkai mythology and everyday kindness. The show runs across two seasons, with the second arriving in 2025, and remains an ongoing story.
