## Synopsis

Dangerous Liaisons (2016) is a Brazilian limited series created by Manuela Dias for TV Globo, a ten-episode miniseries inspired by the 1782 French novel Les Liaisons dangereuses. Isabel D'Ávila de Alencar (Patricia Pillar) and Augusto de Valmont (Selton Mello) are casual lovers and accomplices who treat seduction as a game, and the engine of the story is their shifting alliance as each manipulates the people around them. Around them orbit Mariana de Santanna (Marjorie Estiano), Cecília Mata Medeiros (Alice Wegmann) and Felipe Labarte (Jesuíta Barbosa), whose romances and rivalries become pieces on the board. Each episode is built from calculated flirtations, private confessions, and reversals of loyalty, with the stakes rising as schemes collide. The Brazilian tradition of prime-time serialized drama shapes its heightened emotional pitch, while its sensual, polished atmosphere carries a cool, calculating dread. Fans of Les Liaisons dangereuses and of intricate romantic intrigue will find resonance here, and viewers drawn to moral ambiguity and character-driven mind games will feel at home.
