## Synopsis

The Confidence Man JP (2018) is a Japanese caper comedy series created by Ryota Kosawa for Fuji TV. Masami Nagasawa plays Dako, a con woman who works from a luxury hotel suite and convincingly becomes an expert in whatever profession a scheme requires. She is joined by Masahiro Higashide as Boku-chan, a sincere and timid young con man, and Fumiyo Kohinata as Richard, a veteran fraudster. Each episode follows the team as they set up a plan to strip money from vicious targets such as yakuza bosses and greedy businessmen, with Dako's shifting disguises driving the escalating tricks. The single season of ten episodes is a self-contained run of case-driven capers rather than a continuing serial. The tone is breezy, playful and gleeful, with the pleasure coming from clever misdirection and the crew's fine teamwork. Fans of Leverage, Hustle and Lupin the Third will find plenty of resonance here, as will viewers drawn to witty con artist ensembles in a glossy, modern Japanese setting.
