## Synopsis

Utopia (2020) is an American conspiracy thriller series created by Gillian Flynn for Prime Video, a single-season limited series of eight episodes. Sasha Lane plays Jessica Hyde, a restless outsider who joins a group of young adults who met online, and John Cusack plays Dr. Kevin Christie, a reclusive figure whose family ties to the case draw him into the chase. Ashleigh LaThrop, Dan Byrd and Christopher Denham round out the core circle of friends. The engine of the series is simple and relentless: the group comes into possession of a near-mythical underground graphic novel, and a shadowy deep state organization begins hunting them, forcing every character to decide whom to trust. Each episode tightens the pursuit with brutal confrontations and sudden reversals, building a mood of constant dread. The tone is paranoid, intense and philosophical, with an apocalyptic undercurrent threaded through the mystery. Fans of Mr. Robot, Person of Interest and The Leftovers will find resonance in its blend of conspiracy, moral unease and bleak, unsettling atmosphere. Set in contemporary America, it plays as a sharp, disquieting ride that rewards close attention.
