## Synopsis

Mrs Wilson (2018) is a British three-part miniseries created for BBC One, a restrained spy drama built on a domestic mystery. After the sudden death of her husband Alexander, a former Secret Intelligence Service man, Alison Wilson (Ruth Wilson) finds that his past comes knocking in ways she never expected. Alec Wilson (Iain Glen) anchors the marriage at the center of the story, while Fiona Shaw plays the shadowy Coleman and Anupam Kher appears as Shahbaz Karim, all threads that pull Alison deeper into buried intelligence history. The engine of the series is the slow accumulation of questions: who her husband really was, what he did during the war, and who is still willing to keep those secrets. Each episode peels back another layer through present-day inquiry and recovered memory, so viewers must track shifting loyalties and relationships closely. Told across a single season of three one-hour episodes, it is a limited series with a measured, melancholic register, where grief and suspicion sit side by side. Its postwar British atmosphere and period texture recall the quiet tension of The Night Manager and Bodyguard, and fans of The Crown will find its interior focus on a woman navigating a state secret familiar. Set in the 1940s and 1960s, it favours patient character work over action, rewarding viewers who enjoy intricate plotting and emotional restraint.
