## Synopsis

Luis Miguel: The Series (2018-2021) is a Mexican biographical drama series created for Telemundo and Netflix, a telenovela-flavored music biopic. Diego Boneta plays the title singer Luis Miguel, a superstar whose career and private life are shaped by a demanding father and manager, Luis Rey, played by Óscar Jaenada. Around them orbit Alex, played by Juan Pablo Zurita, Hugo López played by César Bordón, and Marcela and Erika, played by Anna Favella and Camila Sodi, whose romantic and professional entanglements pull the star in competing directions. The engine of the series is the tension between artistic ambition and a family and industry that keep pressing on him, as concerts, recording sessions, scandals and tours give each episode its shape. The series spans three seasons and twenty-seven hour-long episodes, following one continuing story across decades of Latin American stardom. Set in Mexico and across the wider Latin American music scene, it carries a melodramatic, sentimental register, with lush period glamour and emotional reversals. Fans of Ray, Walk the Line and classic Latin melodrama will find resonance in its blend of musical spectacle and family turmoil.
