## Synopsis

The Inbetweeners (2008-2010) is a British teen sitcom created by Damon Beesley and Iain Morris for E4. Four friends at Rudge Park Comprehensive in suburban England, sixth formers on the edge of adolescence, pursue girls and social status with great determination and little success. Will McKenzie (Simon Bird) is the aspiring narrator figure, Jay Cartwright (James Buckley) the self-styled ladies' man, Neil Sutherland (Blake Harrison) the gentle innocent, and Simon Cooper (Joe Thomas) the anxious one. Their schemes repeatedly collapse in embarrassment, and each episode is built from a fresh social plan that falls apart in humiliating ways. Greg Davies plays their exasperated teacher Mr Gilbert, anchoring the school scenes. The series runs three seasons of six episodes each, with a loose serialized thread of romantic setbacks across the years. Its tone is cringe-inducing, crude and warm, with a deep loyalty between the friends beneath the mortification.
