## Synopsis

Proud (2018) is a French LGBT drama miniseries created by José Caltagirone, Niels Rahou and Philippe Faucon for ARTE. Across three episodes it retraces the fight for the rights of sexual minorities in France through three generations and three destinies of men. Frédéric Pierrot plays Charles, Stanislas Nordey plays Serge and Emmanuelle Bercot plays Martine, and their lives are shaped by the pressures of family, desire and a society slowly moving toward acceptance. The engine of the story is the tension between private longing and public struggle, with each character weighing visibility against safety. The look is grounded and intimate, rooted in contemporary urban France, and the tone is sincere and melancholic, with flickers of hope and solidarity. Fans of It's a Sin, Pose and Looking will find resonance in its portrait of community, identity and generational change. As a tight three-episode French miniseries, it suits viewers who want a humane, politically engaged drama with a strong sense of history.
