## Synopsis

Swamp Thing (2019) is a American horror series created by Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman for DC Universe. CDC researcher Abby Arcane (Crystal Reed) arrives in a small Louisiana town to investigate what appears to be a deadly virus born in the murky swamp, but her inquiry quickly exposes mystical and terrifying secrets buried in the marsh. Her investigation pulls her toward Alec Holland (Andy Bean), a scientist connected to the swamp's mysteries, while local figures such as Avery Sunderland (Will Patton) and Maria Sunderland (Virginia Madsen) complicate the search for answers. The engine of the series is a steady accumulation of chilling, unexplainable horrors that emerge from the swamp and threaten everyone in town, so that no one is safe. Across a single season of ten fifty-minute episodes, the show plays as a serialized creature feature with a grim, murky atmosphere, gory body horror and a dread-filled tone. It is built around a comic book property and delivers the gothic, gore-soaked register of adult monster horror. Fans of Hannibal, The Strain and the 1982 Swamp Thing film will find resonance in its blend of investigation, science and monstrous transformation.
