## Synopsis

The Rook (2019) is a British-set supernatural spy thriller series created for STARZ, a single-season limited run of eight fifty-minute episodes that was later canceled. Emma Greenwell plays Myfanwy Thomas, a young woman who wakes in a London park with total amnesia, surrounded by dead bodies in latex gloves. She must piece together her past and reclaim her senior post at a covert British agency that hunts supernatural threats hidden from the public. Joely Richardson, Olivia Munn, and Adrian Lester fill out the principal cast as figures tied to the agency, while Catherine Steadman and Jon Fletcher appear in the mysterious Gestalt family orbit. The engine of each episode is a race to identify the traitors who erased her memory before they finish what they started, with clues surfacing in fragments and every ally open to suspicion. The tone is paranoid and brisk, mixing procedural investigation with bursts of violence and dark humor. Fans of Torchwood, Alias, and Fringe will find the same appeal in its blend of espionage, the uncanny, and a heroine rebuilding herself from nothing.
