## Synopsis

The Who Was? Show (2018) is a American live-action sketch comedy series created for Netflix, adapted from a best-selling book series. Narrator H. Jon Benjamin (H. Jon Benjamin) introduces a rotating cast of performers including Kirrilee Berger, Haley Tju and Adam Hochstetter, who play famous figures from history in short, self-contained sketches. Each episode of its single thirteen-episode season is built from brief vignettes that reimagine the lives of notable people as playful, character driven comedy, with the focus on bringing names from textbooks to vivid life. The engine is simple: a figure from the past is placed in a comic situation and the gags follow from their famous achievements and quirks. Because each sketch stands alone, the show plays as an anthology of small historical portraits rather than one continuing story. Its tone is breezy, silly and gently educational, aimed squarely at children and families who want history to feel fun rather than dry. Fans of Horrible Histories and Portlandia will find a similar appeal in its irreverent, bite-sized sketch format and its knack for turning historical curiosities into accessible laughs.
